Thursday 28 March 2024 Under 16 Girls Football The under-16s girls football team competed in the Cheshire and Warrington Football Finals this week. They played some outstanding football and battled hard through five games.

Thursday 28 March 2024 Year 10 Interview Conference Our annual Year 10 Interview Conference ran yesterday with a range of local, national and international organisations sending representatives to give our pupils the opportunity to hone their interview skills in preparation for experiencing this for real in the not-too-distant-future.

Wednesday 6 March 2024 Gymnastics British Championships Here we have 5 very talented gymnasts: Ella in Year 8, Mia in Year 11, Alisha and Summer in Year 10, and Heidi in Year 9, who all achieved gold medals last weekend representing LS Gymnastics Crewe Academy at the British Championships.

Monday 4 March 2024 Chester Zoo I think it is fair to say that, despite the somewhat inclement weather, our Year 9 pupils enjoyed their trip to Chester Zoo before the half-term break. Monday 4 March 2024 History Quality Mark Gold At the end of last year the History Faculty went through an assessment procedure and have subsequently been awarded the Quality Mark Gold Award by the Historical Association - one of only 29 secondary schools to ever be recognised at this level.

Tuesday 6 February 2024 Cross Country Update Well done, to all the Cross Country runners who ran on Saturday at Winsford. There were some excellent performances in muddy conditions. A special mention goes to Bethany in Year 7 who came 5th and has now got through to the next round to run for Cheshire.

Tuesday 6 February 2024 Ancient History Cambridge University Trip At the end of January, 23 Ancient History pupils from years 10 and 11 travelled to Cambridge University for the day. The morning was spent discussing the pros and cons of ancient forms of democracy, monarchy and oligarchy through the use of ancient authors.

Monday 22 January 2024 Citizenship Houses of Parliament Trip Our annual GCSE Citizenship trip to the Houses of Parliament was really appreciated by our pupils again this year. Trip leader, Mr Leather, reported that the pupils were fantastic, the weather was glorious, Parliament was fascinating, and that his woolly hat was unfairly criticised. Monday 22 January 2024 Stay Safe Online A massive thank-you to Detective Constable Andrew Kevan from the Cheshire Constabulary for coming in today to speak to our Year 7 and Year 8 pupils about staying safe online.

Friday 15 December 2023 Year 7 Steam Project This week all of our Year 7 pupils have been involved in a STEAM project that has run throughout their lessons in maths, science and English. Pupils have explored a range of concepts from this area, such as 2d and 3d shapes and percentages before designing, making and investigating their own 'lunar landers'. It has been "one small step" towards increasing our pupils' knowledge of all things STEAM!

Tuesday 12 December 2023 Clubbercise It was a pleasure to welcome Emma Wilkinson, local Clubbercise instructor, to the Academy this morning as she led two classes Year 11 PE groups. All pupils loved the experience. Huge thanks to Emma for bringing the energy to our Friday morning activity! Thursday 23 November 2023 Football Mini Tournament Congratulations to Year 10 & 11 girls' football team who won yesterday's mini-tournament hosted by the Academy competing against Brine Leas and Sandbach. All girls represented the the Academy with pride and ambition and we look forward to seeing the progress of this group over the coming months and years.

Thursday 16 November 2023 Futures Fayre Our annual Futures Fayre event gave all pupils the chance to find out about careers and post-16 opportunities directly from a range of employers and providers. We are very grateful to the array of local, national and international organisations in attendance at the Academy today to provide this opportunity for all pupils in Years 7 to 11. It's always really pleasing to watch our young people engage with this event so enthusiastically and it is fair to say that the organisations represented at the event were really impressed by the curiosity, ambition and respect shown by our pupils over the course of the day.

Tuesday 14 November 2023 Operation Sceptre Operation Sceptre is a national initiative to reduce knife crime and the harm it causes to the community. Carrying a knife in public or in school is against the law and can result in a criminal record and prison sentence.

Thursday 9 November 2023 PDCE Personal Development PDCE Personal Development, Character & Enrichment) Week: Pupils at the Academy are exploring issues pertaining to Human Rights and British Values over the course of this week. Today, Year 7 really impressed their teachers with their empathy, kindness and thoughtfulness when learning about refugees and asylum seekers. It's good to know that so many of young people care about wider issues and can see that they can have a positive impact on the lives of others.

Friday 3 November 2023 Operation Treacle This is the police response to reduce incidents of anti-social behaviour over the half-term break. Targeted police patrols will be made throughout the week, especially in the evenings. Cheshire Police will take a zero-tolerance approach to any criminal acts or disorderly behaviour.

Wednesday 27 September 2023 Gothic Genre in English In English lessons our Year 8 pupils have been showing their understanding of the Gothic genre by designing film posters after watching trailers for The Phantom of the Opera, The Corpse Bride, and Dracula.
